False start for “Rogue Squadron”, the next film in the “Star Wars” saga to be directed by Patty Jenkins. For reasons of the filmmaker’s schedule, the start of filming has indeed been postponed. But the output remains unchanged for the moment.
The great return of Star Wars to the cinema is still scheduled for December 20, 2023 in France. For the moment. Because the shots of Rogue Squadron, which were to begin next year, are postponed according to Deadline. This is due to the busy schedule of director Patty Jenkins, who is also working on Wonder Woman 3 and a new Cleopatra movie, both starring Gal Gadot.
The project is not threatened so far, and the release date remains, for the moment, unchanged. Because Patty Jenkins intends to direct this film on which she has been working for over a year as soon as she can. A feature film that does not yet have a casting and about which little information has circulated since its announcement last December.
But the director and co-writer clarified that Rogue Squadron would be based on an original story, although the whole would be greatly influenced by the books and video games of the same name, which emerged in the late 90s.
Rogue Squadron is in any case not the only Star Wars film in development, since it is also necessary to count that of the very requested Taika Waititi, co-written with Krysty Wilson-Cairns, as well as the project that Kevin Feige, big boss of Marvel Studios, will lead.
