Return a particularly moving sequence of “The Rise of Skywalker” – episode IX of the Star Wars saga broadcast last night on TF1 – which nicely refers to a mythical scene from “The Empire strikes back”.
We are in the last part of The Rise of Skywalker, episode IX of the Star Wars saga signed JJ Abrams and broadcast last night on TF1.
After being defeated by Rey in a fierce lightsaber duel on the planet Kef Bir, Kylo Ren is disoriented. Should he continue his plan to overthrow Emperor Palpatine and take his place at the head of the galaxy? Or must he return to the Light Side of the Force, as his mother seems to have inspired him?
As he hesitates, torn between light and darkness like so many other Star Wars characters before him, he receives a vision of his father Han Solo, whom he himself had tragically murdered in the end of episode VII. The latter, still embodied by a Harrison Ford in great shape, gives him his support and helps him make a choice.

“I miss you, son. (…) Kylo Ren is dead. My son is alive. (…) Come back. Your mother is dead, but not what she defended with all her might. It continues “, he promises him, also assuring him that he will have the strength to accomplish his task.
Overwhelmed by his father’s words, the young man tries to answer him, but cannot articulate the words: “I love you.” Han Solo then answers him anyway: “I know.”

This moving exchange is obviously a nice reference to another landmark scene in the Star Wars saga, which took place at the end of The Empire Strikes Back, episode V of the saga. Just before being frozen in carbonite by the Empire, Han Solo at the time exchanged a fiery kiss with Leia. The princess then threw him a vibrating “I love you”, to which the smuggler responded with the now mythical “I know”.
This replica, which is one of the most famous in Star Wars, has therefore crossed eras and generations until episode IX to take on a whole new dimension.
