The Paramount+ platform has delivered several announcements around its “Star Trek” series, including the broadcast date of “Picard” season 2 or the renewal of “Star Trek Discovery” for a fifth season.
Good news: the Trekkies are not about to be done with Star Trek. On the sidelines of a panel organized by the Association of American Television Critics (TCA), the Paramount + platform delivered good news for fans of the famous science fiction franchise.
First, the renewal for a fifth season of Star Trek Discovery. Prequel to the original series, the program was previously offered in France on Netflix; it is nevertheless on the Pluto TV network that its fourth unpublished season is currently being broadcast (broadcast of the second part of the season set from February 10).
Discovery is not the only Star Trek series to have been renewed by the SVOD platform, since the animation programs Lower Decks (available from us on Amazon Prime Video) and Prodigy (unreleased in France) have also been ordered additional seasons for 2023.
Awaited for many months by fans, the second season of Star Trek: Picard – a direct sequel to the Star Trek: The Next Generation series and movies – will be broadcast from March 3. Offered in the United States on Paramount+, the series led by Patrick Stewart was broadcast here on Amazon; we do not know for the moment if this agreement is still valid for season 2, or if the series will also be moved to Pluto TV.
Finally, a new series star trek will make its grand debut from May 5; titled Strange New Worlds, this new production will follow the adventures of young Spock (Ethan Peck) in the service of Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) aboard the USS Enterprise! However, no French broadcaster has yet been announced.
