The creator of the Netflix series “Squid Game” has officially announced that there will be a season 2. He has stated that he is currently working on the new episodes.
Squid Game: Netflix’s 2021 hit
Impossible to miss the phenomenon Squid Game. The Korean series Netflix broke all records this year, becoming the most viewed program in the history of the platform. Yet the show was out quite discreetly last September. But soon word of mouth was excellent, and the entire planet succumbed to the phenomenon.
In the vein of Battle royale, the series features a mysterious organization that organizes deadly mini-games involving 456 players who want to pocket a jackpot of 33 million euros. In nine 60-minute episodes, the series immerses us in the hell of these deadly games.
Season 2 announced
With such enormous success, it was evident that Netflix would quickly engage in a season 2 of Squid Game. But nothing had yet been formalized. It’s now done since the creator of the series, Hwang Dong-hyuk, told The Associated Press that there would be a season 2 and that he was already writing these new episodes:
There has been so much pressure, love, and demands for a season 2 that I feel like I don’t really have a choice! But I can say it now, there will be a second season. Everything is in my head for the moment (…) it is still too early to tell you when it will arrive but I promise you this: there will be new adventures of Gi-hun!
A few weeks ago, Hwang Dong-hyuk said he already had some ideas for new episodes. He notably mentioned that he wanted to address more the history of the Frontman (the man in the black mask Editor’s note). We imagine that Gi-hun will return to the game to dismantle this terrible organization …
