The creator of the phenomenon series “Squid Game” Hwang Dong-hyuk has confirmed that a season 2 will see the light of day soon.
Against all expectations, Hwang Dong-hyuk has confirmed that a season 2 of Squid Game will be released soon on Netflix. After having confided in his exhaustion to write and direct the nine episodes of the phenomenon series, the South Korean director had also revealed to have no idea how to continue his plot.
But did the filmmaker really have a choice? Asked during a Netflix public event, the latter finally confirmed the continuation of the series, revealing to think about the structure of this season 2 of which he should – at least – supervise the writing (during a previous interview, Hwang Dong -hyuk had revealed that he would only come back on the condition of sharing the work with other writers and directors).
There has been so much pressure, demands and passion for this season 2, it’s like I haven’t really had a choice. But I can confirm that there will be a second season. I am imagining it and thinking about its structure. It’s far too early to tell you when and how this season 2 will see the light of day.
Most viewed series on Netflix when it launched (with over 110 million views in just seventeen days!), Squid Game follows a series of games organized to allow individuals riddled with debt to land a huge jackpot. Inspired by childhood, each of the games will test the physical and psychological limits of its participants …
Recall that many questions remained unanswered at the end of the ninth episode of the first season. Following Squid Game will surely allow to know a little more about the organization at the origin of these games, but also on the past of the strange masked man, and of his young police brother left for dead.
