Squid Game : a dangerous game
You’d have a hard time missing out on the record-breaking Korean series on Netflix! Squid Game is a game – as its name suggests – very special! In the series produced by the famous platform with the red logo, hundreds of beings penniless and desperate thus indulge in childish games. If they come out of all the hardships, wealth awaits them. Otherwise, it is death that is at the rendezvous.
It must be said : between accusations of plagiarism and excesses occurred, Squid Game is a divisive program that never ceases to be talked about. While many derivative objects are already on the market, some have decided to take a new step !
A worldwide craze
The phenomenon Squid Game has obviously inspired many people and a new concept is flourishing around the world, namely the organization of these games in reality ! According to Korea Times, a hotel establishment by the name of St John is currently preparing its first edition of the competition. Due to Covid-19 and the restrictions it causes, it is not yet clear when it will take place. On the program, the cult events of show, like that of caramelized sugar or the famous “One, two, three, sun”. Do not panic : no participant will be deleted in case of abandonment or defeat. As for the sum promised to the winner, the organizers are obviously less extreme than those of the Netflix series. The winner should thus pocket a little more than 3,500 euros!
Then, isolated phenomenon in the country that created the fashionable program? Imagine not, quite the contrary ! For the moment, two other competitions are also expected. Ladbible thus mentions a similar competition in Australia. More than 2000 people have already registered, but this time, we do not know the amount allocated to the winner. At last, Squid Game will also become “real” in Venezuela. The big winner will take home 1000 US dollars ! For the record, given the terrible poverty that plagues the country, once the money is pocketed the winner will be escorted home by the police in order to avoid any overflow.
And France in all this?
While the Minister of National Education spoke about the impact of Squid Game on the youngest, it is difficult to see a real edition landing on the territory in the near future. On the other hand, two weeks ago, an ephemeral store was set up in the heart of Paris. Stormed by fans of the show, the latter offered several emblematic games of Squid Game, especially that of the pattern to detach from the sugar!
Only a lucky few were able to spend a moment inside the latter before it closed its doors, causing significant frustration among many fans of the show. Frustration which then turned into physical altercations, requiring the intervention of the police.
