Not quite a controversy, but we are getting closer. An episode of the Korean series Squid Game caused a reaction on social networks, requiring the addition of a warning message for the attention of the most sensitive viewers.
In the fourth episode, a shock sequence indeed sees part of the protagonists savagely attacking other players in the middle of the night. But it is not yet the violence of the scene that has been pointed out by subscribers.
This “special game” is orchestrated by the organizers of Squid Game. To reinforce the feeling of insecurity and disorder, they decide to turn the lights off and on again at a frantic pace, thus creating the feeling of true chaos. But the sequence very quickly generated an embarrassment with Netflix subscribers, because of the bright flashes and the duration of the scene (about five minutes).
In order to alert the most sensitive viewers, and to prevent the risk of epileptic seizures, the platform has therefore decided to add a warning message to accompany this episode 4. A modification more than necessary, especially as the series is a phenomenal success, being currently ranked number 1 on the top Netflix views in 76 countries!
