The famous basketball player LeBron James gave his opinion on the end of “Squid Game”. A criticism heard by the creator of the Netflix series, who responded with a small tackle.
Squid Game : a season, and then what?
Squid Game is clearly the hit of the year for Netflix. The Korean series hit the mark all over the world and quickly became a phenomenon. We follow a terrifying game in which people in debt participate in the hope of winning a large sum of money. Terrifying, because if they fail a test, they are simply killed. The series also marked the spirits by the inspiration of children’s games for the rules of the different events. Thus, a part of 1, 2, 3 sun turns here into a real massacre. And in the end, there can only be one left.
Available on Netflix since September 17th. The series has broke a historic record. We can therefore expect that a season 2 will see the light of day. But so far, nothing has been confirmed. And recently the creator even mentioned another project that he wanted to achieve before embarking on other episodes of Squid Game. What frustrate the fans who hope to see a season 2 arrive, especially with the last scene of the series which opens towards a possible sequel.
An ending that doesn’t please everyone
This end, Hwang Dong-hyuk came back to it with The Guardian. In addition to having mentioned his next project, he wanted to justify your choice after receiving some criticism. Finally, one in particular. That of Lebron james. At a Lakers press conference, the basketball player was filmed chatting with teammate Anthony Davis. In the video, both talk about Squid Game. LeBron James then says he doesn’t like the ending, because the main character, played by Lee Jung-jae, won the game and should stop there.
LeBron James’ comments were therefore reported to Hwang Dong-hyuk. And the latter’s answer is funny to say the least since it starts with gently tackle the Lakers star by evoking his film Space Jam 2. A “Have you seen Space Jam 2?“as a first response which seems quite ironic. Then, he specifies to fully assume his end and that if it does not suit LeBron James, he can always make his own sequel, and see what it feels like to receive this genre of criticism.
LeBron James is cool and can say whatever he wants. I respect that. I am very grateful that he watched the whole series. But I wouldn’t change my ending. This is my end. If he has his own ending that would satisfy him, maybe he could make his own sequel. I’ll watch her and maybe send her a message saying, “I liked your whole show except the end.
A small spade that should better be taken with a smile, just as the words of LeBron James should have been at the base. The latter did not make an official statement but simply chatted with a friend and gave his opinion like any spectator. He was not, a priori, too upset by Hwang Dong-hyuk’s answer, and even seems rather amused, even surprised at such a reaction. Evidenced by his response on Twitter.
Squid Game is currently available on Netflix.
