Theories are rife about Dr. Strange’s true identity in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. A new hypothesis imagines that Dr. Strange is actually the dark wizard featured in episode 4 of the “What If …?” Series. “.
Spider-Man – No Way Home : crazy movie on the way
After two first opus, Jon Watts is back behind the camera to direct Spider-Man: No Way Home. This new episode of the Spider-Man saga is still worn by Tom Holland, who takes on the costume of the spider for the sixth time in a row. A new component eagerly awaited by fans.
This feature film will indeed have something completely new. Spider-Man: No Way Home will discuss the concept of multiverse, and thus bring back characters from other sagas Spiderman. Thus, in this logic, Alfred Molina will return in the skin of Dr Octopus, Jamie Foxx will resume his role of Electro, and the Green Goblin should also be back. It now remains to confirm the great returns of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
Spider-Man: No Way Home will also develop the character of Dr Strange. The latter, still embodied by Benedict Cumberbatch, will indeed be in the game. In the first trailer for the film, Peter Parker to ask the Sorcerer Supreme for help. At the end of Far From Home, Mysterio reveals Spider-Man’s secret identity to the world. The latter therefore goes to see Dr. Strange so that he applies a spell that will change this reality, and that the world forgets that Peter Parker is Spider-Man.
Dr. Strange accepts the idea against all odds, and thereby casts a spell that endangers reality itself. A decision that goes against its primary mission: protect reality. A strange action that causes some fans to think that Dr. Strange is not himself.
So who really is Dr. Strange?
Not long ago we imagined that Dr. Strange could actually be a Skrull. An interesting theory that holds up. Others think it could be Mephisto. The demon of the Marvel Universe makes himself desired, as The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) keeps leaving clues here and there as to its upcoming appearance. But a third theory has just fallen on the net. And this one concerns episode 4 of the series What If …?.
In this one, Dr Strange faces the death of Christine Palmer, his wife played by Rachel McAdams in Scott Derrickson’s film. Stephen Strange later becomes Dr. Strange, and will use his powers to bring his late wife back to life. A dangerous path that leads The Sorcerer Supreme to the dark side. The episode then shows a hero motivated by power, by power, who becomes a much more sinister and dangerous magician, determined to capture every bit of mystical power to bring Christine back to life.

Technically, the series What If …?, although it is out of continuity, remains canon within the MCU. The show certainly takes place in an alternative reality, but remains anchored in the global universe of the license. Thereby, the events of the show have the potential to spill over into the rest of the MCU. This dark version of Dr Strange does exist, and could possibly appear in the classic MCU continuity. And since Spider-Man: No Way Home will discuss the concept of multiverse, the report is fairly straightforward to make.
Dark Dr. Strange could have taken the place of the hero we know, and act in the shadows for darker purposes. That could in any case explain the illogical actions of the Sorcerer Supreme in the trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home. maybe Jon Watts’ movie Dr. Strange is the one portrayed in episode 4 of the series What If …?, while the real Dr. Strange is lost somewhere in the multiverse … So, admittedly, this is all still a theory with no clear foundation, but anything is possible in the MCU …
