“Spider-Man: No Way Home” continues to fuel the craziest theories. The latest suggests the return of Topher Grace, who played Venom in Spider-Man 3, in Jon Watts’ upcoming film. The actor has just reacted to this rumor.
Spider-Man: No Way Home – the superhero carnival
Expected for December 15th, Spider-Man: No Way Home keeps fueling the craziest theories. While Marvel Studios recently revealed the trailer, there are plenty of rumors surrounding the film. If we know that Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina will return as Elektro and Dr Octopus respectively, for the rest, it is still only fantasies and hypotheses. Indeed, fans would love to see the returns of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as the two previous Spider-Men. But we won’t have the answer until the film is released.
Jon Watts’ film will in any case present viewers with the principle of multiverse, which leaves the possibility of seeing a lot of characters from other franchises on the screen. It is also whispered that Charlie Cox could return to Daredevil, that Kirsten Dunst will return as Mary-Jane Watson or that Willem Dafoe will be The Green Goblin again. Many possibilities which will be verified or not next December.
Towards a return of Venom?
Obviously, given all this information, the fans continue to feed the craziest theories. Among those, there is one that offers a return of Venom in Spider-Man: No Way Home. But not the Venom played by Tom Hardy in the character’s two solo films. It’s about Venom camped by Topher Grace in the Spider-Man 3 by Sam Raimi. Indeed, the fans would like see the actor again in the skin of the symbiote and thus give him a chance in the role of this mythical antagonist of the weaver.
But obviously there is no way this will happen. Indeed, the comedian visited his Reddit account IamTopherGrace to promote his new show: Home Economics. Obviously, the actor was harassed with questions about his possible participation in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Topher Grace then responded with a lot of humor:
Please keep it to yourself but yes I’m in it. The plot begins with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) disappointed that everyone knows his identity. Then crazy things happen with Dr. Strange, and Dr. Octopus (Alfred Molina) walks into our dimension. Then Electro and the Green Goblin come out of one of those “energy circles” and they’re like, “It’s time to crush some spiders”. Then Tom Hardy and I go out and we fight each other and I win (obviously). It’s not even a fight, I kick her ass immediately. Not to say too much, but there are also actors from the original ’70s Spiderman show; the Aquaman and Batman crossover (Affleck, not Keaton); the ghost of Han Solo from Rise of Skywalker; and this Eve robot from Wall-E. Again, please keep it between us.
Topher Grace will therefore obviously not be in the film. In any case, the comedian seems to follow what is currently happening in the Marvel universe. He seems to be aware of the story of Spider-Man: No Way Home and characters already confirmed in the casting. He takes the opportunity to offer a fake story, but nonetheless very creative, to his fans. A very funny alternative scenario which allows to mix the universes. It may also be a way of criticizing the current functioning of Hollywood which has fun accumulating crossovers and returns of all kinds. These jokes show in any case that the actor will unfortunately not be in Jon Watts’ film. But that’s not much of a surprise.
