Thanks to their participation in the blockbuster “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, comedians Willem Dafoe and Tobey Maguire have exploded a new record. The two actors have jointly won a Guinness World Records title.
Spider-Man – No Way Home: the return of the bosses
On December 15, the newborn from Marvel Studios was released in theaters. Spider-Man: No Way Home, directed by Jon Watts, concludes the trilogy Spiderman with Tom Holland as Peter Parker. A somewhat special third film since the filmmaker chooses to approach the concept of the multiverse. An original idea that allows Marvel Studios to bring back to the fore iconic characters from previous sagas devoted to the weaver. Thus, in this logic, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Andrew Garfield, and even Tobey Maguire are all back in the shoes of their respective characters. Heroes they embodied many years ago now.
A historical record
Thanks to Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tobey Maguire, and Willem Dafoe just broke a new record. 19 years and 225 days after their first appearance in Spiderman (2002) by Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire (46), who played Peter Parker and Willem Dafoe (66) who played Le Bouffon Vert broke the record for the longest career as a character from the Marvel Universe by live-action. The previous record was held by Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart, who portrayed Wolverine and Professor X respectively. for 16 years and 232 days, from the first X-Men (2000) to recent Logan (2017).
It is therefore thanks to the film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that the two actors were able to beat their colleagues from the X-Men. A record that could still change in view of the next productions of the MCU. Indeed, it is rumored that Tobey Maguire could return in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. If the rumor turns out to be true, he will break his own record. Unless Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Halle Berry, or any other actor from the very first movie X-Men is making a comeback in the next installment of the MCU, as some other rumors suggest. As a reminder, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected on May 4, 2022, in dark rooms under the direction of Sam Raimi.
