In October 2021, a Frenchman broke the world record for the number of viewings of a film in the cinema. He had succeeded in this by going to see “Kaamelott” more than 200 times! But the one who held the record before him took back his throne in this fight from a distance with “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.
A fan will see No Way Home nearly 300 times…
On December 15, 2021, Marvel unveiled the most anticipated movie of the year. Spider-Man: No Way Home thus arrived in theaters after the enormous enthusiasm it had generated during its promotion. Many fans rushed to the cinema to see the meeting between Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland. And as expected, the film hit!
Still playing in select theaters more than three months after its release, No Way Home has so far grossed over $1.8 billion worldwide. And this, without the help of the Chinese market, since Jon Watts’ feature film was censored in the Middle Empire! If it had been projected there, it would therefore undoubtedly have exploded the threshold of two billion dollars in revenue. But its current figure still places it as the sixth biggest hit of all time. And a fan has largely brought his stone to the building. Thereby, Ramiro Alanis went to see the new Spiderman no less than 292 times in theaters!
A record of the world!
With this impressive figure, the Ramiro Alanis, therefore, won the official world record for the number of views of a film in the Guinness Book. More precisely, he took it over. Because it is this same Alanis who held the record until several months ago. He got it by going to see Avengers: Endgame 191 times! This figure was therefore already impressive, especially since the second biggest card of all time lasts more than three hours!
But Alanis had been pushed ahead several months ago. A Frenchman had achieved this feat. In October 2021, Arnaud Klein had thus entered the Guinness Book to have seen the first part of Kaamelott 204 times. The Rémois must now settle for second place after the new madness of Alanis, who therefore exploded his performance. But, beautiful player, the French wanted to congratulate his opponent. Asked by France 3, he even explained that he got along well with his “rival”. The two men thus sent messages of support when each tried to break the record of the other.
Kaamelott 2 to set a new record?
It remains to be seen whether Klein will try to set the bar even higher. Maybe he will try to do it with the second Kaamelott? We will have to wait before knowing the answer to this question since Klein and the other fans of Kaamelott will probably not be able to discover the continuation of the adventures of King Arthur on the big screen before 2023. But the Rémois says it is in any case ready to do so if he finds a cinema that assures him that he will be able to go and see enough screenings for that…
