If there is almost everyone in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, there is however an actress who has not returned, the famous Kirsten Dunst. But the actress says she is ready to resume her cult role of Mary Jane Watson in the future.
Spider-Man: No Way Home – the mind-blowing reunion of the MCU
On December 15, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) had the joy of discover the incredible Spider-Man: No Way Home. Directed by Jon Watts, the feature film is an opportunity to offer viewers a historic reunion. Indeed, the film decides to bring back many characters from the old sagas devoted to the weaver. Thus, Dr Octopus, The Lizard, Electro, The Green Goblin and The Sandman are all back to play dirty tricks on our friend Peter Parker. But the latter will be able to count on the unexpected and exceptional help of two other Spider-Men. A simply historic meeting which thus generated more than $1.5 billion in box office receipts.
Where is Mary Jane?
But among all these returns, some characters have not been integrated into the story. This is the case, for example, of Mary Jane Watson, the great love of Peter Parker version Tobey Maguire. For a time, some rumors considered that the character played by Kirsten Dunst in Sam Raimi’s trilogy was going to return in No Way Home. In the end, it turned out not. However, the actress is not closed to a return. In a recent interview with People Magazine, Kirsten Dunst said she would be absolutely thrilled to reprise the role of Mary Jane Watson:
Of course I would. Sure. I have been asked the question several times. It is obvious. It was a big part of my career, and my life.
If the character is absent from No Way Home, maybe he will have a place in the future of the MCU. The events spawned by Jon Watts’ film will have profound consequences for future MCU films (including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness). It is therefore not impossible that certain characters like the Spider-Men of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield can reappear.
So the same goes for Kirsten Dunst, and her iconic character Mary Jane Watson, which has not reappeared in the cinema since Spider Man 3 in 2007. Shailene Woodley was to portray the character in The Amazing Spider-Man: A Hero’s Fate, pending a greater role in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, but his participation in the Marc Webb film was cut during the editing. The sequel we know, there has never been a third opus, and Sony preferred to produce a new saga led by Tom Holland.
