Already three years before the three spider men Peter, Peter and Peter in “Spider-Man: No Way Home“ met, the animated film “Spider-Man: A New Universe” already explored the limits of the multiverse concept that the audience could handle. Including the end credits scene, eight Spider incarnations swung through the air in this animated adventure and had to take on the villain Kingpin and his henchmen. It has now been revealed which villain Miles Morales has to deal with in the sequel “Spider-Man: A New Universe 2 – Across The Spider-Verse”.
At Sony Pictures’ presentation at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2022, an accompanying Twitter thread also featured “The Spot” as the new villain in the “Spider-Man: A New Universe” sequel and as “Miles Morales’ most fearsome foe yet.” ” presented. In addition, Jason Schwartzman (“Moonrise Kingdom”) was introduced as the voice of the spot and published a first concept art for the new villain.
The Spot is a villain that fits perfectly into the multiverse concept of the Miles Morales animated films, because this one is covered all over with interdimensional portals that feel like living ink and that can take him to any location he desires. The bad guy can make these portals appear out of nowhere, teleporting people and objects at will.
That sounds like a lot of trouble for Miles Morales and his friends. How the Spider Gang will deal with this opponent, we will learn on June 1, 2023, when Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse will start in German cinemas. It is not yet known whether the new antagonist will also play a role in the already announced third part “Spider-Man: A New Universe 3 – Beyond The Spider-Verse”, which is scheduled to start in German cinemas on March 28, 2024 .
