Whether we prefer the more modern version of the MCU or the saga with Andrew Garfield, we must admit that Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire has a certain charm. In this context, many people regret not having been able to discover Spider Man 4 from the director Sam Raimi.
Which villain for Spider-Man 4?
In this Spider-Man 4 we would have had the right to the presence of the Vulture. Indeed, the comic book writer Ken Penders unveiled the villain’s mechanical wings on Twitter:
Before Tobey and Sam said goodbye to Sony, work had actually started on SPIDER-MAN 4, and I visited some friends who were working on the Vulture costume for actor John Malkovich. Once production stopped, all material was returned. I kept it for almost 15 years.
Eventually life decided otherwise, and the Vulture made his MCU debut via the excellent Michael Keaton in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Two rooms, two atmospheres. Now imagine the face of the famous villain if he had been played by John Malkovich. A delight isn’t it?
From other information this canceled Spider-Man 4 could have been quite grand. According to the concept artist Jeffrey Henderson, the film could have had a handful of classic villains within it, namely Mysterio, the Shocker, the Prowler, Rhino… In short, a real monster fair for Peter Parker.
