You no longer have the patience to wait and want to finally be sure about the characters in “Spider-Man No Way Home”? This article is for you – SPOILERS BEWARE !!!
WARNING – The article below contains huge spoilers for “Spider-Man No Way Home”, as it discusses some of his surprises. Unless you can’t wait to see Jon Watts’ movie any longer, it is highly recommended that you go your way.
By playing the mystery card in this way, Marvel and Sony managed to increase the wait around Spider-Man No Way Home to allow it to reach a level close to that which surrounded Avengers Endgame. Rumors to confirmations, through the denials of each other, the feature film by Jon Watts has severely shaken the Web in recent weeks.
But the wait is finally over because the feature film has been in our theaters since Wednesday, December 15. If you haven’t yet planned to see it right away but want to know the identities of the Marvel characters that appear in it, the answer can be found below this trailer. At your peril.
Spider-Man 3: which Marvel characters appear in No Way Home?
PETER PARKER / SPIDER-MAN
Necessarily. Even though old villains are back, No Way Home is and remains the third single-player Spider-Man adventure played by Tom Holland since 2016 and his appearance in Civil War. This version of Peter Parker is therefore present and at the heart of the story, busy repairing the disasters he caused by wanting to ensure that everyone (or almost) forgets his double identity.
Secondary and reduced to a few punchlines in Homecoming, MJ rose to prominence in Far From Home at the same time that Zendaya became a global star. So it’s no surprise to see her again in No Way Home, where her relationship with Peter is central to the narrative.
What would Tom Holland’s Spider-Man be without his self-defined “geek in the chair”? Peter’s best friend, played by Jacob Batalon, is also in the game, as the consequences of the end of Far From Home affect him personally. And the movie hints that he might have skills that we never suspected before.
From the moment Spider-Man’s identity is revealed, it inevitably impacts his privacy. So her Aunt May is back, also for the third time, in the guise of Marisa Tomei.
Tony Stark is no more. But that’s no reason for Happy Hogan to step out of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man story arc. Especially since the character, still played by Jon Favreau, got closer to Aunt May.
After their encounter in Infinity War and their fight with Thanos, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange reunite. Obviously played by Benedict Cumberbatch, the Master of the Mystical Arts is requested by Peter Parker so that the world forgets his double-identity, revealed by Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) at the end of the previous episode. But the fate, very complicated to achieve, turns out badly …
J. JONAH JAMESON
It was THE surprise of Spider-Man’s Far From Home post-credits scene: Irascible Daily Bugle Editor-in-Chief J. Jonah Jameson does exist in the MCU, and he retained the traits of JK Simmons. Not for a question of multiverse, but because the actor was considered, and rightly so, as the ideal performer. We find him quite naturally in No Way Home, happy to be one of the instigators of the cabal against Spider-Man.
With Doctor Strange’s spell not having the desired effect, it opens wide the doors to the multiverse and attracts people who know Spider-Man’s true identity. Including Doctor Octopus, opponent of Tobey Maguire at Sam Raimi in the guise of Alfred Molina. The actor is back in No Way Home, and he was one of the first to confirm the rumor, unable to hold his tongue.
THE GREEN JACKET
His return was confirmed in two stages: the first trailer allowed to hear his laughter as one of his bombs appeared on screen; then the second showed us that it was indeed the Green Goblin by Willem Dafoe (who will be entitled to another costume, inspired by his model in the comic books) and not James Franco or Dane DeHaan.
The first thunderclap had come from him. Because it is…
