Expected in France on Amazon Prime Video, Spencer, the film by Pablo Larrain with Kristen Stewart in the role of Princess Diana, is revealed a little more with a trailer full of new striking images.
After promising first images, a long trailer of Spencer was unveiled. This drama about Princess Diana, directed by Pablo Larrain, takes place during the Christmas holidays 1991 during which the royal family tries to maintain stability for the festivities with dinners and hunting parties within Sandringham House in the county of Norfolk in England.
But Princess Diana is tormented by her failed marriage to Prince Charles and the pressure she is under by royal protocol. Spencer focuses on those few days and imagines what could have been going on in the princess’s head at that point in her life when she is thinking about leaving her husband amid rumors of infidelity.
Cradled by a revisited version of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day”, Spencer’s trailer promises a heart-wrenching and brilliant portrait of a woman carried by an inhabited and disturbing performance by Kristen Stewart. The actress is surrounded by Timothy Spall, Sean Harris, Sally Hawkins, Jack Farthing, Stella Gonet and Richard Sammel.
To the realization of Pablo Larrain, who has already convinced in this field with Jackie, is added the sublime photography of Claire Mathon (Portrait of the young girl on fire, Atantique) and the careful writing of Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders).
Presented and acclaimed at the Venice Film Festival, Spencer will be released in theaters on November 5 in the United States. As confirmed Variety, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the broadcasting rights for France but no date has yet been formalized.
