Snow White, the first Disney Princess, will be entitled to her live film in the form of a musical. Announced 2 years ago, the project seems to be progressing well since Disney has just announced the name of the interpreter of its heroine, created in 1936 by Walt Disney and David Hand.

It is therefore Rachel Zegler who will play the Princess with “hair as black as ebony, skin white as snow and lips red as a blood stain”.

Still unknown to the public, the young actress and singer of 20 years will be showing from December 8 of the remake of West Side Story by Steven Spielberg and is currently on the set of Shazam! Fury of the Gods in an undisclosed role.

Deadline reveals that director Marc Webb and studio executives were impressed by the young woman’s auditions and by the first images of her performance as Maria in the musical West Side Story.

The filmmaker underlines in a press release: “lRachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are only a small part of her gifts. His strength, intelligence and optimism will be an integral part of rediscovering this classic Disney fairy tale.“.

The feature film is based on the classic which won Walt Disney an honorary Oscar in 1939. The latter represented 8 statuettes including seven small and bore the mention “Indisputable innovation in the field of cinematography having charmed millions of spectators and having open to the cinema of vast perspectives “.

Additional music for this new version will be composed by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the duo behind La La Land and The Greatest Showman.

Snow White therefore joins the list of Disney classics entitled to a live action adaptation after Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Mulan, Cruella and soon The Little Mermaid.
