A remake of Silent Hill 2 and a new PS5 excluded game would only be the tip of the iceberg. Konami could also have signed a deal with Annapurna Interactive for a title like no other.
Silent Hill has never been so talked about as it is now. According to leaks and rumors, there would indeed be a remake of SH2 and a new PS5 game. Other details on Konami’s ambitions would have leaked through our colleagues at VGC.
An episodic Silent Hill game?
For Andy Robinson, journalist on VGC, one of the Silent Hill titles would be a smaller project and could take the form ofan episodic series with “short stories”. Which would potentially coincide with the “secondary” stories briefly mentioned by leaker Nate the Hate.
According to two VGC sources, Annapurna Interactive, publisher of independent games such as Outer Wilds, 12 Minutes, Gone Home or the future Stray, would have at least “participated in discussions” to produce a Silent Hill game. Indeed, our colleagues are taking a step back because many studios would have been there with their pitch. But of course, not all of them would have been selected. Incidentally, Supermassive Games (The Quarry) also reportedly entered into negotiations with Konami at the time, but eventually the studio ended up releasing its anthology The Dark Pictures.
Akira Yamaoka, composer of the franchise, back?
As he teased last year, Akira Yamaoka, the emblematic composer of the license, should return to create a whole lot of music for a Silent Hill game. It could be the remake of the second opus since the musician has already collaborated with Bloober Team on The Medium. To have.
Are you lost? We summarize the projects that would be in development:
- A remake of Silent Hill 2 by Bloober Team with reworked puzzles, AI and animations. It would be a temporary PS5 exclusion
- A new game, that of leaked images, which this time would be developed by a Japanese studio. On one of the shots, the character was reading a document in Japanese precisely. Temporary or permanent exclusive PlayStation 5 too? Sony being quite aggressive on this, it is not entirely to be ruled out
- Other secondary titles, including perhaps an episodic series with “short stories” by Annapurna Interactive would be in the cards
Journalist Jeff Grubb also heard the same story: Konami would have different Silent Hill games in development. He specifies that the Japanese publisher could have unpacked his bag during E3 2021, before the latter canceled his participation in the event.
