should we stay at the end of the credits?

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” has just been released in theaters. Unlike usual, the new Marvel Studios film contains only one post-credits scene, located after the first credits. No need to stay until the end. Attention, the second part of this article decrypts the unique bonus sequence with spoilers.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – a single post-credits scene

After the huge success of Black Panther (more $1.3 billion in revenue), Marvel Studios reveals Black Panther: Wakanda Forever by Ryan Coogler. Despite the untimely death of Chadwick Boseman, the firm decided to produce a sequel, without the famous T’Challa. The film therefore focuses on Shuri, the hero’s little sister, played by Letitia Wright. The rest of the cast includes Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Martin Freeman and introduced Tenoch Huerta as Namor and Dominique Thorne in Iron Heart.

Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverin addition to telling an untold story, is also a strong tribute to the memory of Chadwick Boseman. A mourning that is felt throughout the film, and which closes the time of a post-credits scene that plays on the string of emotion. A sequence that takes place after the first credits, accompanied by Rihanna’s new title: lift me up. But unlike other Marvel productions (apart from Avengers :Endgame which also broke tradition), which contain two, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever does not propose only one post-credits scene. It is therefore not necessary to wait for the end of the second credits.

Producer Nate Moore explained on the microphone of comic book the reason why there is only one post-credits scene in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever:

This film is a little different from the others, the tone is not the same as usual. We found, and people will be able to see it, a poetic ending. Coming back to say “Hey, we put a joke at the end of the credits” would have sounded false and hypocritical. Like Endgame, which didn’t have an extra scene, this movie didn’t seem to need one.

An awkward emotion sequence (Spoilers!)

This time, and it’s quite rare, this post-credits scene picks up directly after the events of the very last sequence of the film. Attention, SPOILERS! We thus find Shuri who finally seems to have mourned the death of her brother. She is in Haiti, in front of the house of Nakia (Lupina Nyong’o). It is at this precise moment that she learns, like the spectators, that Nakia had a child with T’Challa. The public thus discovers, a little disconcerted, the existence of Toussaintthe true heir of Wakanda.

This is here a somewhat disappointing ideasince it comes contradict the themes implemented throughout the film. While the feature focuses on Shuri taking responsibility for ruling Wakanda, the post-credits scene means, unfortunately, that she may not ultimately be the great leader of her big brother’s countrybut that this title goes to little Toussaint.

It’s an awkward scene, which recalls the detestable end of She-Hulk: Lawyer. Like in Jessica Gao’s series, where Hulk introduces his son without any concrete introduction and like a hair in the soup, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever uses the same process for add Toussaint to the MCU…

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is to be discovered in theaters since November 9, 2022.
