“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” is currently a hit in theaters. Like every Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie, the feature features post-credits scenes. The producer of the film, Jonathan Schwartz returned to the way in which they were composed.
Shang-Chi : already a box office success
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has been in theaters since September 1st. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the feature film introduces viewers to a brand new hero: Shang-Chi. This last, embodied by Simu Liu, is considered the Master of Kung-Fu in the comics. He finds himself here facing the terrible Mandarin, played by Tony Leung.
The rest of the cast is made up of Awkwafina, Fala Chen and Michelle Yeoh. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is already a box office triumph with over $ 150 million in revenue in just one week of operation.
Like every MCU movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings concludes with two post-generic sequences. One of them features two Avengers: Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner, who talk to young Shang-Chi. Producer Jonathan Schwartz recently spoke about how they selected these two Avengers.
Why Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner?
After defeating the inter-dimensional creature known as Dweller-in-Darkness, Shang-Chi and her friend Katy are quickly recruited by Wong. The latter wants to analyze the ten rings to know their origins. For this, he calls on Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner for external opinions. However, none of the protagonists are able to come to any conclusion whatsoever. Banner then contents himself with welcoming Shang-Chi in ” the circus “.
Jonathan Schwartz, producer of the film alongside Kevin Feige, recently spoke with CinemaBlend, for discuss this famous post-credits scene. He revealed that they have “Always had the idea of this scene”, but that they had to adapt to modified schedules because of the COVID-19 pandemic and finally turn it during the reshoots:
We always had the idea for this scene. It was put in place relatively early in the process. We ended up not being able to shoot it during the main shoot for a lot of reasons, but mainly because COVID stopped us, the schedules changed, so it was pushed back to a period of reshoots. And then at that point, we wondered which characters would make sense in this passage. It was a conversation between me, Destin and Kevin. We shared our ideas and then we agreed on these two characters.
The three men therefore agreed to determine which characters would appear in this famous sequence. In any case, these are fairly logical choices. Bruce Banner is one of the greatest scientists in the Marvel Universe, and his expertise was then essential. As for Captain Marvel, she is played by Brie Larson. And the latter is Destin’s favorite actress Daniel Cretton. This is the fourth time they have worked together after States of Grace, The Glass Castle and The Way of Justice.
