“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” was an opportunity to introduce many new characters. But did you know that one of them, Razor Fist, was initially to be killed. Discover this other outcome in video!
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings : nice introduction for Simu Liu
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is the opportunity to introduce a whole new family to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). As indicated by his name, the feature film focuses on the character of Shang-Chi. The latter, played by Simu Liu, is considered the master of Kung-Fu in the comics. Outstanding fighter inspired by Bruce Lee, he regularly appears alongside characters like Daredevil, Iron Fist or Luke Cage.
In the movie, his story changes a bit since he faces the real Mandarin, here considered as his father (which is not the case in the comics). This new MCU hero has ten rings of powers, which give him superhuman abilities. Here again, the film takes liberties with respect to the comics. In the latter, the rings are rings while Destin Cretton decided to materialize them in the form of bracelets. Likewise, their powers are totally different in the pages of the comics. At any rate, Shang-Chi has instead convinced the press and fans alike and has so far reported more than $ 430 million in box office revenue.
Razor Fist was originally scheduled to die onscreen
Besides Shang-Chi, the feature film also presents other characters such as Jiang Li played by Fala Chen, Katy played by Awkwafina or again Razor Fist. This last, interpreted by Florian Munteanu, is one of the main antagonists of the film. Mandarin’s right hand, it is he who goes to meet Shang-Chi in the United States and thus participates in the superb fight sequence on the bus. What if in the final version of the film, Razor Fist ends up allying with Shang-Chi and his army to stop the terrible Host of Darkness, initially, the character had to have a completely different outcome.
This is what reveals one of the cut scenes of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Shared by IGN, this sequence presents Razor Fist, who after giving a touching motivational speech, sacrifices herself so Katy can shoot her arrow at the mighty dragon. A scene that shows the evolution of this character, who completely turns his jacket around in the face of the Mandarin’s madness. The sequence also highlights the evolution of on-screen special effects since in the video, these are not completely finished. But this passage was ultimately not preserved, perhaps because of its strong similarity to Falcon Eye’s motivational speech to Wanda in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
In the final cut of the film, Razor Fist is still alive and well, and joined the new Ten Rings organization led by Shang-Chi’s sister Jiang Li. The character should therefore logically return in the future in the MCU. We leave you with the scene in question, shared by IGN:
