In a Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings promotional video, Kevin Feige confirms that the Ten Rings criminal organization did appear in the very first Iron Man.
Twenty-fifth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings is directly connected to the franchise’s very first feature film: Iron Man.
It is in a promotional video of the film worn by Simu Liu that the president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, confirmed the information.
“We come back to the genesis of the MCU. This is the founding event that announces the transformation of Tony Stark into Iron Man. He’s got to build these weapons for an organization, which is the Ten Rings”, Assures the producer, referring to the beginning of Jon Favreau’s film where Tony is kidnapped in Afghanistan.
If the terrorist group of the Ten Rings has remained in the shadows since this first appearance (the one we see in Iron Man 3 not being not the real organization of Mandarin), he will obviously be at the heart of the next Marvel film where the big bad martial arts expert will be played by Tony Leung.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton also starring Awkwafina, Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong and Michelle Yeoh in the cast, Shang-Chi is expected in French theaters on September 1st.
