It has been officially learned that the highly anticipated second season of “The White Lotus” directed by Mike White will be filmed in Sicily. The previous reports that the second season of the HBO series will take place in Italy were thus confirmed. Sources close to the show reported that the fictional luxury White Lotus hotel chain will replace the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace, specifically in Sicily’s exclusive resort town of Taormina.
The Hawaii-based first season of “The White Lotus” was filmed at the Four Seasons Resort Maui. According to San Domenico Palace’s website, the venue is closed to guests until April 1. HBO representatives have not yet commented on the matter. Season two of the black comedy will feature Michael Imperioli and Aubrey Plaza, as well as recently announced actors F. Murray Abraham, Tom Hollander, Adam DiMarco, and Haley Lu Richardson.
Season one fan-favorite Jennifer Coolidge, playing grieving heir Tanya McQuoid, will return for a second season as well. Imperioli will play Dominic Di Grasso, who travels to the White Lotus resort with his elderly father, Bert Di Grasso (Abraham), and his college-educated son (DiMarco). Plaza will feature Harper Spiller, who is on vacation with her husband and friends. Hollander will play Quentin, a British immigrant vacationing with his friends and niece, and Richardson will play Portia, a young woman traveling with her boss.
Plaza expressed her excitement at working with White, announcing that they were collaborating on another creative project that was turning everything upside down due to Covid-19, and I was a fan of the first season but more importantly, a huge Mike White fan. That’s why I’m so excited to be working with him. I am very honored to be a part of this television series and I hope I do not disappoint everyone. It seems like everyone watched this show.” said.
