The production of the film “Rust”, already bereaved by the terrible tragedy which claimed the life of Halyna Hutchins, seems definitely cursed. While participating in the dismantling of the set and the sets following the stoppage of filming, a technician was seriously bitten by a spider and risks losing his arm.
Rust : incidents never end
On October 21, 2021, a terrible accident occurred on the set of the western Rust, produced and performed by Alec Baldwin. The actor, film star and important cultural figure in the United States, was the author of an accidental but fatal shooting with a firearm that is supposed to be “cold”, that is to say, loaded blank and harmless. But following an imperfect preparation of the props, a real bullet was found in the weapon used by Alec Baldwin during the filming of a sequence. The director of photography Halyna Hutchins was killed, and the director of the film Joel Souza injured.
A tragedy reminiscent of the one that occurred during the filming of The Crow, during which Brandon Lee was killed in similar circumstances. The production of Rust was stopped, but until its last moments this film will have been dangerous, sincea technician suffered a severe spider bite.
Jason Miller could lose his arm
The family of Jason Miller, set technician, has created a prize pool on GoFundMe and on this occasion provided information. Jason Miller was at Bonanza Creek Ranch, the location of the filming and fatal incident of Rust, inasmuch as member of the team responsible for disassembling everything, following the cessation of production. It was thus while carrying out his task normally that he was bitten by a “brown recluse”. Do not worry, this one does not exist in our latitudes, but is mainly found in the southern regions of the United States.
Its venom is particularly aggressive and causes very serious reactions, significant necrosis destroying arteries and veins and which can constrain caregivers to amputate the infected limb. This is unfortunately what Jason Miller risks, bitten in the arm and whose necrosis has quickly spread. The technician has already undergone several operations to try to save his arm, but its safety is not guaranteed.
