In an interview with the BBC, Ridley Scott confirmed that series adapted from two of his biggest hits, “Blade Runner” and “Alien”, were currently in the works.
On the occasion of the release of House of Gucci (which arrives this Wednesday in French theaters), Ridley Scott confirmed that television series derived from Blade Runner and Alien were currently in preparation. The pilots of these two new shows would also be already written.
In an interview with the BBC, he hinted that the Blade Runner adaptation should consist of 10 episodes: “We have already written the pilot for Blade Runner, as well as the bible. We are already in the process of selling Blade Runner as a 10 hour series.. ”
Ridley Scott added that the same is true for Alien, which is expected to be between 8 and 10 hours long. While the “live-action” series project for Blade Runner is new, the one for the famous sci-fi saga was first announced in December 2020. Noah Hawley, who previously worked on Fargo and Legion, will be the showrunner and it should air in the US on FX.
John Landgraf, director of the cable channel, explained at the time that the series would be “the first iteration of Alien to take place on Earth. It will be a clever mix between the timeless horror of the first film and the action of the second. It will be a spooky adventure that will make people leap from their seats. ”
As a reminder, Blade Runner has already been adapted with Blade Runner: Black Lotus, an animated series broadcast since November 14 on Adult Swim in the United States. It should soon arrive in France on the same channel.
