In full promotion of “Glass Onion: A story at loggerheads”, filmmaker Rian Johnson has reconsidered his desire to make a new production Star Wars. Obviously, the director is in and is simply waiting for a proposal from LucasFilm.
Rian Johnson: the smart guy behind Star Wars VIII The Last Jedi
In almost 20 years of career, Rian Johnson has staged amazing and different works from each other. While he began his career at the end of the 1990s, it was not until 2005 that Rian Johnson delivered his first feature film with Brig. After staging An almost perfect scam and some episodes of Breaking Badhe impresses the audience with great sound Looperan ambitious science fiction film carried by Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Then, in 2017, it is the consecration when Disney asks him to direct Star Wars VIII – The Last Jedi. A disconcerting work, which gives an unexpected middle finger to Star Wars VII – The Force Awakens in deconstructing everything that JJ Abrams put together. The Last Jedi quickly becomes a work of fascination for some and deep disappointment for others. He has since moved away from the galaxy far away to focus on the saga At daggers drawnthe first part of which was released in 2019.
Soon back in the stars?
Glass Onion: A story at loggerheadsthe sequel to the adventures of detective Benoît Blanc (Daniel Craig), is expected on December 23 on Netflix. This week saw the world premiere of the feature film in the United States. The opportunity for all the US media to ask the killer question: “Will Rian Johnson be back in the universe anytime soon? Star Wars ? “.

At the microphone of The Hollywood Reporterbut also of Variety, the American filmmaker returned to his passage in the universe Star Warsclaiming that it was one of the best experiences of his career. He also underlined, at the microphone of The Hollywood Reporterthe effort of LucasFilm and Disney who offer an impressive number of products:
Like all fans I think it’s a pretty exciting time right now. I am thinking of all these productions that are offered, around Andor for example. I feel like there’s a plethora of completely different stuff. You can choose based on the type of works you like, so that’s exciting.
An aborted project…
When asked if he would like to come back behind a production Star WarsRian Johnson does not cut corners and does not does not hide his desire to work with LucasFilm again:
It was the best experience of my life doing The Last Jedi. I still talk to Kathy Kennedy and it’s my goal to be back in this universe that I love so much.
Despite uneven reviews, Star Wars VIII – The Last Jedi still brought in more than $1.3 billion at the box office. Initially, Rian Johnson was to return to directing his own trilogy Star Wars, but the project no longer seems to be relevant. Given the declarations of the filmmaker, who would love to return, logically, the cancellation of said project would come more from LucasFilm production than from his own desire.
Waiting to see him behind the camera for a possible production Star Wars, Netflix will present Glass Onionthe next film by Rian Johnson, on December 23.
