Several nods to the “Indiana Jones” saga have slipped into the action comedy “Red Notice”, to be discovered exclusively on Netflix!
It’s hard to talk about adventure cinema without thinking of Indiana Jones. An observation to which Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson adhere with their action comedy Red Notice, to be discovered on Netflix since November 12. A fallen FBI agent teams up with an art thief to get his hands on golden eggs once held by Cleopatra, also coveted by an exceptional thief named “The Madman.”
The film directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber has indeed paid several tributes to the saga of Steven Spielberg in which Harrison Ford plays an adventurous archaeologist, desperate to defend objects of inestimable value from the lust of odious characters. It is therefore no coincidence that Nolan Booth (played by Ryan Reynolds) whistles the famous musical theme of John Williams when entering the Nazi bunker towards the last act of the film.
The most attentive spectators may have noticed another wink addressed to Indiana Jones. One of the crates in the same bunker pays tribute to the cargo of the Ark of the Covenant from the film Raiders of the Lost Ark. The reference does not end with the mere presence of this box, since the short chase in the corridors of the bunket resumes identically a similar sequence extracted, for its part, from the Temple of Doom.
One would almost regret that none of the characters uttered the famous line. “The Nazis, I hate these guys!” when entering the bunker built by former Germans after WWII, but no doubt these few winks were enough to amuse fans of adventure cinema and “old-fashioned” blocksbuter .
The film Red Notice can be discovered now exclusively on Netflix.
