The reboot of “Mom I missed the plane” called “Home Sweet Home Alone” is expected on November 12 on Disney +. Macaulay Culkin, aka Kevin McAllister, the star of the original film, will he make a cameo? The actor wanted to make things clear.
Home Sweet Home Alone: the reboot of Mom I missed the plane is coming
With the takeover of 20th Century Fox, Disney now owns many major cinema licenses. The studio with big ears is therefore spoiled for choice to dispose of it as it wishes. In particular to feed its Disney + streaming platform. It is in this context that arrives Home Sweet Home Alone, the reboot of the cult film Mom I missed the plane which will be available on November 12.
In this film, it is the talented Archie Yates (notably seen in Jojo rabbit) who succeeds Macaulay Culkin. His name is not Kevin McAllister but Max Mercer. And his family did not leave him to go to Paris, but to Japan. The two burglars are a married couple, who will be greeted as they should by the little boy. The Home Sweet Home Alone trailer released yesterday picks up on some iconic shots from the original film. It also reveals the return of a cult character: Buzz, Kevin’s big brother, who has become a police officer.
Macaulay Culkin speaks
With the unexpected return of a cult character from the first film, fans naturally wondered if the star of the original film, Macaulay Culkin, might make an appearance as well. It is a habit already widely spread in saga reboots: the cameos of the characters from the original program. The fans love it, the studios know it. This will be the case for example for the reboot of Sister Act (also expected on Disney +) which will include Whoopi Goldberg in its cast.
But that will not be the case in the reboot of Mom I missed the plane, as the interpreter of Kevin McAllister said on his Twitter account:
Hey everybody. Just a little clarification because this question has come up a lot today. I’m NOT in the Home Alone reboot.
He also had a thought for the crew of this new film, wishing them good luck.
