Thurber most recently directed Netflix’s hit movie “Red Notice.”
Rawson Marshall Thurber, who will direct the live-action film adaptation of the classic cartoon and toy series of the 1980s, “Voltron”, better known as “Voltran” in our country, has been announced.
Most recently, Thurber directed “Red Notice”, the most-watched movie of all time on Netflix, and also directed films such as “Skyscraper”, “Easy A” and “We’re the Millers”.
It is known that major movie studios such as Warner Bros., Universal, and Amazon competed to undertake the production of the film. Netflix, which restarted the Voltron legend with the animated series “Voltron: Legendary Defender” in 2016, surprisingly did not participate in this race. It is unknown why Netflix made this decision.
Rawson Marshall Thurber, who will create the main story of the film, will also pen the screenplay with Ellen Shanman. It is produced by Bob Koplar, Todd Lieberman, and David Hoberman.
The original cartoon series was about 5 mechanical lion robots and 5 heroic pilots who control these robots. Each lion robot has a different ability, but in case of danger, they can fight independently and come together to form Voltron, a giant robot.
