“Princess in spite of herself”, the film which revealed Anne Hathaway, should have a new sequel. A third opus which we have been hearing about for years and which finally seems to materialize, although the presence of the actress has not yet been confirmed.
The beginnings of Anne Hathaway
After taking his first steps on television, Anne Hathaway quickly turned to the cinema. And it is, from his first film, Princess against her (2001), that it is strongly noticed. The Disney production is distributed internationally and brings in more than 165 million dollars worldwide. The actress plays Mia, a young girl who feels bad about herself on a daily basis, to say the least banal. But her life changes when she meets her grandmother who came from Europe and who tells her that she is in reality heiress to the crown of the Kingdom of Genovia.
Neither one nor two, Mia finds herself catapulted into a totally different world, that of royalty. Obviously, nothing had prepared her before to become a princess. She will therefore have to take a whole host of courses to gain confidence and beauty. If this element would be open to criticism today, this does not prevent us from keeping a real tenderness for this film thanks in particular to the so nice Anne Hathaway. At his side, remember that we could see Julie Andrews in the role of the grandmother and appearances of Mandy Moore or Sandra Oh.
Following the success of this adaptation of Meg Cabot’s novel, Diary of a Princess, Anne Hathaway reprized her role for A princess wedding (2004), still directed by Garry Marshall. Then, Anne Hathaway left her tiara aside to pursue a very fine career. However, the idea of a third opus has been discussed in recent years.
princess in spite of herself 3 will it finally happen?
Indeed, already in 2016 we learned that a princess in spite of herself 3 was in preparation. Gary Marshall had, at the time, said to have spoken with Anne Hathaway to embark on this new film, but to have to wait a little since the actress was then pregnant. Since then, the years have passed and the project forgotten. But Deadline returns to the charge today by confirming thata third episode would have entered production on the Disney side.

The American media announces that the screenplay will be written by Aadrita Mukerji (Supergirl). The story would logically be a sequel and not a reboot. Although Anne Hathaway’s involvement has yet to be confirmed, it would be surprising if that weren’t the case. Besides, Deadline recalls that the actress had recently (via AND ) showed encouraging signs of a princess in spite of herself 3hoping to be able to work again with Julie Andrews.
Pending progress in production, the first two films are to be reviewed on Disney+.
