I’m experiencing it myself right now with “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” and have already had the experience with “The Wheel of Time”: Knowing the book template of a series or a film increases the fun factor enormously when watching. It also helped me to find my way around the mess of extravagant character names.
I mostly relied on Audible, because I could enjoy the best entertainment while walking my dog, washing dishes or falling asleep. Especially the Silmarillion, spoken by the German Gandalf voice Joachim Höppner, sent a shiver down my spine.
» Try Audible now for 3 months for free*
As a rule, Audible costs €9.95 per month. As a new customer, you can currently test the audio book service for 90 days free of charge. After that, the normal tariff applies again.
Audible gives you access to thousands of audio books and many podcasts. You get one free credit per month. Here you can download an audio book. The credit does not expire, so you can take your time listening to the books. Currently there are also some audio books available for free, including the entire “Harry Potter”-Row. Your credit will not even be reduced by this.
You can pause or cancel your subscription at any time. Pausing in particular has always served me well in the past, for example when I got stuck on the 30+ hours of Fire and Blood, the template for House of the Dragon. You can pause your subscription for up to 3 months.
At the moment, Amazon doesn’t just give you a few months of free Audible. You can now extensively test Amazon Music Unlimited. The shipping giant is currently giving you a whopping 4 months for free.
