Geralt de Riv returns to Netflix this Friday with season 2 of The Witcher. After two years of waiting, it’s time to refresh your memory!
As soon as it arrived on Netflix in December 2019, The Witcher was an immediate success for fans of the video game, Andrzej Sapkowski’s books and neophytes alike. As a reminder, the plot revolves around Geralt de Riv (Henry Cavill), one of the last Witers (or monster hunters), as he ventures through the medieval lands known as the “continent”. and finds her fate linked to that of Ciri (Freya Allan), Princess Cintra. Still, its choppy storytelling – which mixed up timelines – deserves a little flashback before season 2 kicks off.
Fortunately, Netflix has thought of everything and started by clearing up this complicated timeline by publishing in January 2020 a first timeline that puts all the events of season 1 in the right order:
This time around, for the arrival of season 2, the streamer released a 6.30 minute video in early December, to be discovered below, in which Dandelion (Joey Batey) sums up the entire timeline in order.
In summary, at the end of the first season, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) gives it all in the Battle of Sodden by unleashing flames on the attackers. Ciri uses her powers for the first time after being attacked by a group of men. When she wakes up after a blackout, she realizes that she has quite simply massacred her attackers. Soon after, fate finally reunites Geralt and Ciri in a pretty little farmhouse.
