Legendary monster of cinema, the Predator struggled to convince fans during its last outings. The Space Beast will return in a new feature film set in the past. We now know the official title, as well as the release date.
The mythical Predator
If there is a more than logical consensus on the quality of Predator by John McTiernan, the hunter’s other spacewalks have caused differences in the press and the public. Whether this is the sequel to Stephen Hopkins, The Clashes Alien vs Predator, the essay by Nimrod Antal (although promising on paper) or The Predator by Shane Black, we didn’t always get what we paid for. Despite all that, The popularity of the Predator remains quite high and the monster continues to have its firmly established place in popular culture.
A prequel is coming in 2022
A new project was developed behind our backs, until the American press took charge of revealing what was going on in secret. Dan Trachtenberg, to whom we owe him convincing 10 Cloverfield Lane, found himself at the helm of a feature film set in the past. More precisely, during the Civil War. And this time it will be a heroine which is going to be put forward – something never before seen in the history of the franchise. The scenario should feature the first arrival of a Predator (s) on Earth. The main character sees her relatives being murdered and goes to prove that she does not lack courage.
The film was known until now as Skulls but we have just learned during Disney + Day (the rights have been held by Disney since the acquisition of Fox.) thatnow you have to call him Prey. You will have understood that if the feature film was discussed during this event, it is because‘he will be doomed to spin on the small screen. The studio has just confirmed that it will be visible in the summer of 2022, for broadcast on Hulu – subsidiary of Disney. As the service is not available with us, it may be that Prey be offered in the Stars section of Disney +, the area reserved for adults. We would be really surprised if the film arrived in theaters on the French market, but this possibility remains plausible.
