Netflix is reportedly in the process of developing a live action movie “Pokémon” which will be directly linked to the future TV series. Conversely, the project has nothing to do with the previous film “Pokemon: Detective Pikachu”.
Pokemon : a comeback
The creation of the universe Pokemon dates back to 1996. This is a franchise invented by Satoshi Tajiri. Basically, Pokemon is a range of video games published by Nintendo. According to the firm’s own statistics, Pokemon games have sold over 250 million units nothing for the year 2010. Faced with such success, the license was quickly developed and derived in the form of animated series, TV films, films, manga and of course playing cards.
One of the most famous adaptations obviously remains the animated series created in 1997 by Kunihiko Yuyama. A show of 1159 episodes which traces the journey of Sasha, Pikachu and their friends against Team Rocket. The latest landmark adaptation dates back to 2019, when filmmaker Rob Letterman decided to derive the universe as a of a film in live version with Pokémon Detective Pikachu.
Soon a new film?
Since the launch of Pokemon go in 2016, the Pokemon license has had a boost of energy across the world. We also know that Netflix is currently developing a live action series, a first for the franchise. According to The Illuminerdi, Netflix is also reportedly developing a live-action Pokemon movie., which will be linked to this famous live action series. At the moment, no one knows whether the feature will air before or after the series.

This decision is in any case a logical continuation. Currently Netflix continues its campaign to adapt animated formats to live versions. There have already been films like Death Note, Bleach or Fullmetal Alchemist. Soon there will also be live series One piece and Cowboy Bebop. It is thus totally logical to see Pokemon also switch from animation to live format. It remains to be seen how Netflix will move away from the Warner Bros. movie, which had been relatively well received by critics. On the box office side, the film had grossed more than $ 433 million in revenue. Waiting for, a new animated film will arrive on October 8, and we leave you with the trailer:
