In March 2021, Sony struck hard by securing the right to offer Final Fantasy VII Remake to PlayStation Plus subscribers. In the process, Square Enix had however announced the arrival a few months later of a PS5 version of the RPG. Version to which all owners of the original game would have access on PS4. Well, almost all of them. Indeed, this upgrade would not be allowed to those who had received the game via the PlayStation Plus. Good news for this last category of player, the situation will change very soon.
PlayStation Plus subscribers who got Final Fantasy 7 Remake through their subscription will soon be able to grab the game’s PS5 update for free. The announcement of this Christmas gift in advance is official to say the least. It has indeed just been carried out by Square Enix on several of its official Twitter accounts.
A gift for PlayStation Plus subscribers
The Japanese publisher therefore specifies that from Wednesday, December 22, 2021, players who have recovered Final Fantasy VII Remake will be able to download the PS5 upgrade for free. Until now, only players who purchased the PS4 version of the game could get this upgrade for free.
The PlayStation Plus version of the game was not eligible for the upgrade. This was a way for Square Enix to tempt some players to get their hands dirty. However, the editor ended up changing his mind.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake PS5 For All
Finally, it should be noted that this is not the only announcement that Square Enix had to make about Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Indeed, the Intermission episode will for its part benefit from a temporary reduction in its price. This unpublished chapter which features Yuffie Kisagari will be sold at -25% during a “limited period. “ The publisher has not yet communicated precisely the duration of this period.
On consoles, the Intermission episode is only available on PS5. Delivered immediately with Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, it must be purchased by owners of the PS4 version who download the free PS5 update. Here are the players concerned warned.
