A month ago, Margot Robbie declared that the female version of Pirates of the Caribbean would not see the light of day. Yet someone claims the opposite today.
Canceled, not canceled, the female version of Pirates of the Caribbean seems very complicated to set up. A producer very, very close to the file has revived the discussion around this new film.
Margot Robbie as Jackie Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean?
Disney seems to really want to breathe new life into the saga Pirates of the Caribbean. And for that, the firm with big ears would think about two options: one with the big return of Johnny Deep and the other with Margot Robbie (The wolf of Wall Street, Babylon, The Suicide Squad…). Except that the second choice may never happen, if we refer to the last statement of the actress at the microphone of Vanity Fair.
We had an idea and we had been developing it for a while, a long time ago, to have more of a female-led story – not totally female-led, but just a different type of story – which , in our opinion, would have been really cool, but I guess they don’t want to do it.
On the side of producer Jerry Bruckheimer, it would not be a definitive abandonment:
I think that scenario will be presented at some point. We’ve developed two different stories for Pirates of the Caribbean and it’s the other one that should come first, so that’s what we’re working on to try to make it happen.
Has he had more recent information than Margot Robbie? Is it more optimistic or even too much? Wait & see.
