Following the release of “The Suicide Squad” earlier this year, a series dedicated to the character of Peacemaker will be appearing on the HBO Max platform. The trailer was teased way ahead and it just arrived during the DC Fandome.

Peacemaker : a spin-off series at The Suicide Squad

With the appearance of the HBO Max platform, Warner and DC intend to do well like Disney and Marvel by taking advantage of the small screen to develop stories inspired by comics. Several projects for the platform have been announced for months and some are related to feature films. One thinks of the series on the police of Gotham which will take place in the universe of The batman. There is also the show dedicated to Peacemaker which is due to arrive next year.

We met this character in The Suicide Squad. James Gunn thought there was material to continue using the character. The end of the film released this summer also opened the door to a comeback by telling us that the anti-hero played by John Cena was not dead as we thought. This does not mean, however, that the series will be placed temporally after the events of the film. There is the possibility that we dive into the past of the character to discover his origins or simply who he was before entering the Suicide Squad. The scenario had been kept secret until now, but we did not have too many concerns about the direction taken by the project because James Gunn was still in the game.

A crazy trailer

On the occasion of the DC Fandome, a trailer was revealed to the public. We therefore find a John Cena who continues to be totally delusional and perched in his role. He is not going to operate solo with a team surrounded by an eagle.

As a reminder, Peacemaker is a man who dedicates his life to making peace reign. However, since his objective must be achieved at all costs, he does not hesitate to use drastic methods. The trailer is true to the tone that was set in The Suicide Squad. Those who liked the movie should get their money’s worth with this expansion on the small screen. We actually feel that James Gunn brought his style and his sensitivity with a lot of humor. In addition to the trailer, we learned that the show will be launched on January 13 on HBO Max.
