“Rogue Squadron”, the movie Star Wars what Patty Jenkins has to make has no release date. The film was scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 22, 2023, but is no longer on Disney’s release schedule.
The saga Star Wars keep it up on Disney+
Disney managed to find the right recipe with the series Star Wars, available on Disney+. Even if the shows are not perfect and have real writing flaws, the fans seem to be satisfied for the moment. first with The Mandalorian, whose season 3 will arrive soon (see the trailer). Then more recently with Obi-Wan Kenobi, marked by the returns of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen. Wheras’Andor is about to be released.

On the other hand, on the big screen, the universe Star Wars remains in neutral. Since Star WarsEpisode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), the studio did not release anything. But above all, no project really seemed to take shape. When we see that Marvel is able to offer several superhero films a year, we say to ourselves that there is a problem with Star Wars. However, with the complicated feedback from fans, and the inconsistency of the films between them (aberrant for such a studio), we understand that production teams take their time.
Rogue Squadron disappears from radar
And it continues with one of the few projects Star Wars which had an advanced minimum. As advertised Variety, Rogue Squadronwhich should be directed by Patty Jenkins, was removed from Disney’s release schedule. Already, in 2021, the film had been delayed due to different creatives. This time, the studio did not specify a new date. Synonym of cancellation? Possible, but not necessarily.
Indeed, it is quite logical that the film no longer appears on its originally scheduled date. Recall that Disney hoped release the film on December 22, 2023, a little over a year from now. Given the total lack of information around, it seemed difficult that the filming could suddenly be launched and that the project manage to finish in time to finish in theaters at the end of 2023. Especially since Patty Jenkins must be a little busy by Wonder Woman 3which had been confirmed by Warner in 2020.

However, we remain skeptical about this project. Conversely, that of Taika Waititi seems to be on the right track. The director is in good Disney papers with his work for Marvel. And he sent quite positive signals about his film project Star Wars. Whereas the next film in the saga is dated December 2025we would rather bet that it is that of Taika Waititi than this Rogue Squadron…
