The spirits of the “Paranormal Activity” saga are not yet at rest. A seventh film is about to be released for next Halloween on Paramount +. A first teaser allows you to learn a little more about this rather mysterious project.
The saga Paranormal Activity keep expanding
Paranormal Activity surprised in 2009 by smashing everything at the box office (190 million dollars won worldwide) while its budget barely climbs to 15,000 dollars. Impressive profitability, reminiscent of that of Blair Witch Project. The two films are alike since they work on this horrific sub-genre that is the found footage. The concept was based on a family plagued by paranormal phenomena. Using cameras willingly placed in their homes, they wanted to collect evidence.
When something works like this, any producer worth his salt cannot stand idly by. Five more films have seen the light of day and the saga will not end there. A seventh opus was shot with William Eubank directing. We know him for the very sympathetic and underestimated Underwater. Subtitle Next of Kin (as a tribute to Tony Williams’ horror film?), Paranormal Activity 7 remains a mysterious project. We do not know anything about the scenario but no doubt that evil spirits will be the center of attention.
A promising teaser for Next of Kin
Paramount has just released the first images of the film with a teaser. It should be a question of a sort of sect with questionable practices. The good news, in terms of form, is that the staging shouldn’t just go through shots. found footage. It seems that William Eubank has managed to break away from it, without completely abandoning this important part of the universe. The idea is not to displease us and could allow to regenerate a saga which has covered the question of this visual approach. Other good news: Next to Kin has received an R ranking in the United States, a sign that he should bet on violence and not play off-field or only jump scares.
When will a release in France?
The film was originally slated in theaters for 2022 but plans have been changed. Rather, it will be released on the small screen via the Paramount + platform, the October 29. Stack for Halloween, then! In France, this service is not yet available (it will be launched next year in some European countries), which raises questions about how Paranormal Activity 7 will be visible with us. A passage in the rooms remains possible. But we are more inclined to arrive directly on DVD / Blu-Ray or on a platform accessible in our country.
