Paramount Plus has announced the cast for the upcoming drama “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.” The musical series takes place four years before the original “Grease” in 1954. Before rock ‘n’ roll reigns and T-Birds are the coolest in school, four fed-up punks try to have fun on their own. Rydell High is experiencing a moral panic that will change them forever.
Starring Marisa Davila as Jane, Cheyenne Isabel Wells as Olivia, Ari Notartomaso as Cynthia, Tricia Fukuhara as Nancy, Shanel Bailey as Hazel, Madison Thompson as Susan, Johnathan Nieves as Richie, Jason Schmidt as Buddy, Maxwell Whitt as Wally and Jackie Hoffman as Director McGee.
First ordered by the publisher in July 2021, the 10-episode series is currently under production in Vancouver. It is expected to be released on Paramount Plus later this year. Annabel Oakes will serve as the screenwriter, executive producer, and showrunner of “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.” Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen will also executive produce alongside Adam Fishbach, Picturestart’s Erik Feig and Samie Kim Falvey, and Alethea Jones.
Jones will direct the pilot and two additional episodes. Grace Gilroy serves as executive producer. Jamal Sims is responsible for the choreography, with music by executive music producer Justin Tranter. Paramount Television Studios is producing. The series is distributed internationally by the ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group.
