Iconic science fiction writer HG Wells’ works include classics such as The Time Machine and War of the Worlds.

Paramount Pictures is working on an as-yet-unnamed HG Wells project under the Paramount Players label, with the production company of “The Maze Runner” director Wes Ball’s OldBall Entertainment. Not much information has been disclosed about the movie, which is still in development.
Known for timeless science fiction classics such as Time Machine, War of the Worlds, Doctor Moreau’s Island, Invisible Man, First Men on the Moon, it is not known which book of HG Wells’s book will be adapted into a movie. However, it was stated that the film will be a free adaptation stemming from the “mythology” surrounding one of Wells’ iconic works.
It is not yet known who will sit in the director’s chair of the movie. The screenplay was written by Laura Gillis. Gillis’ script was written by TS Nowlin, who wrote the script for Netflix’s Ryan Reynolds movie The Adam Project. Nowlin, Wes Ball, Joe Hartwick Jr., and Hank Wyler are also producing the film.
The works of HG Wells have been adapted to the cinema many times before. The Invisible Man, which was most recently adapted by Leigh Whannell in 2020 and starring Elisabeth Moss, first came to the screen with the movie directed by James Whale in 1933 and has since been the subject of many film and series adaptations. The 2005 film War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise, directed by Steven Spielberg, was also originally adapted by Byron Haskin in 1953.
