Available exclusively on myCANAL from November 11, Paraíso is the new sensation straight from Spain. From its history to its characters, through its 90’s aesthetic, everything you need to know before attacking the SF series!
WHAT DOES IT TALK ABOUT ?
Created by Fernando González and very noticed during its presentation at the CANNESERIES 2021 festival, Paraíso takes us back to the 90’s thanks to its retro visual and sound aesthetic. Combining the codes of the adventure thriller with the fantastic universe, the series succeeds brilliantly in dealing with the pivotal period between adolescence and adulthood.
The spectator is immersed at the end of summer 1992, on the coast of the Levant region in Spain. Fifteen-year-old Sandra, Eva and Malena disappear into a nightclub without a trace.
Convinced that the police are looking in the wrong direction, Javi, Sandra’s younger brother, investigates with his best friends Quino and Álvaro, and Zeta, the bully of the class. Together, they discover that the people who hold her sister are not of this world.
Pau Gimeno is Javi
At the center of the series, Javi is a trouble-free young boy. But one evening, a tragedy catches up with him since his sister Sandra suddenly disappears in the company of two friends.
Between the irrepressible need to save his sister and the desire to solve this mystery, Javi will lead the investigation in the company of his father Mario and his group of friends, even if it means taking immense risks.
Cristian López is Álvaro
Javi’s best friend, Álvaro hides his great shyness behind his passion for music. Very loyal, he has trouble managing his emotions and therefore seems to be the opposite of Zeta, the boss of the gang.
Leon Martínez is Quino
Suffering from muscular dystrophy that forces him to use a wheelchair, Quino is as loyal as he is vulnerable. Devoted to his friends despite his lack of courage and self-confidence, he is passionate about science fiction comics, books and films. His immense creativity will quickly be of great help to the band.
Héctor Gonzalbo is Zeta
Antipathetic at first glance because considered as the tyrant of his class and his school, Zeta actually hides serious loopholes which partly explain his violent and angry personality.
If he never thought about forming friendships with boys like Javi, Quino and Alvaro, he will ultimately form relationships that will change his life.
María Romanillos is Bea
A rebel of the group, Bea has a tremendous sense of justice and is not afraid of anything. Carried by her energy and courage, her wild and intrepid side, she adores risk. Her only weak point: her diabetes, which she cannot cope with and endure. His strong point: his friend Olivia who is one of the few who can appease him.
Patricia Iserte is Olivia
Endowed with a singular black humor inspired by her family environment (her family owns an undertaker’s business), Olivia is not afraid of death. Better, its link with the macabre universe gave it faculties to communicate with the other world.
However, this schoolgirl always manages to bring back a smile to those close to her thanks to her phlegm and her joyful nature.
Iñaki Ardanaz is Mario
Dad of Javi and Sandra, Mario led a simple and peaceful life before that famous night during which his daughter vanished. Obsessed by the search for the latter, he comes to abandon his other child …
Macarena García is Costa
A lifelong friend of Mario (the father of Javi and Sandra who has disappeared), Costa works for the Almanzora police. In charge of the investigation into this famous disappearance, she is driven by her intelligence, her intuition and her disenchantment with the rules.
This allows her to be the first to realize that something strange and supernatural is surrounding this drama. At the same time, she is a solid shoulder to support Mario.
