After “Bronx” in 2020, Olivier Marchal is back with “Overdose”. A new dark detective film, with in particular Sofia Essaïdi, Kool Shen, Assaâd Bouab and Nicolas Cazalé. The trailer promises spectacular action sequences and a tense plot.
Olivier Marchal is back
After Bronxwhich was broadcast on Netflix, it’s Amazon Prime Video’s turn to welcome screenwriter and director Olivier Marchal with his new film Overdose. The former Versailles PJ cop, passionate about the police world, does not deviate from what he knows how to do best: tell tense police intrigues mixing cops and criminals in a storm of violent action. Since 2002 and his first feature film Gangstershe thus goes from cops to thugs, establishing specialist filmography.
With Overdosehe adapted into a screenplay, with Christophe Gavat, the novel by Pierre Pouchairet Deadly Traffics published in 2016. The plot thus takes us to Spain and the south of France, on the murderous route of drug trafficking. And the trailer images (above) promise a drama as dark as it is spectacular.

Here is its synopsis: Sara heads the narcotics squad of Toulouse. While investigating a go fast between Spain and France, she discovers that this traffic is linked to the murders of two young people in Paris. Richard, the head of the Parisian criminal police, is investigating this murder which occurred in a hospital. Sara and Richard are therefore forced to join forces to solve this case. Elsewhere, Sara reunites with her former lover, Raynal, who is infiltrated into the gang of traffickers.
A very solid cast for Overdose
Once is not custom, Olivier Marchal has the good idea to entrust the main role of his film to an actress. It is indeed Sofia Essaïdi, not seen in a feature film since mea culpa by Fred Cavayé in 2014, who plays Sara. With her, there is Assaâd Bouab, star of Ten percent and here commissioner of the criminal police of Paris. Cops sideare also present Nicolas Cazalé, Kool Shen, Moussa Mansaly, Zoé Marchal – daughter of the director – and Simon Abkarian.

rogue sidethe cast is notably made up of Argentinian actor Alberto Ammann, Kenza Fortas and Nassim Lyes, Naïma Rodric and Francis Renaud, one of Olivier Marchal’s favorite actors.
All united in a violent intrigue with multiple ramifications, in France as in Spain, the characters of Overdose have only one objective. Complete their mission, no matter what.
Overdose will be to discover on Amazon Prime Video the November 4, 2022.
