Before discovering season 2 of Outer Banks on Netflix, a little recap of the events of the inaugural season of the teen adventure series.

Adventure series between The Goonies and Riverdale, Outer Banks follows the treasure hunt of a group of teenagers, who call themselves the Pogues. This group, led by John B (Chase Stokes), lives in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where a social divide has grown between the locals of the working class (Pogues) and the wealthy seasonal residents (Kooks).
When John B’s father mysteriously disappears, the latter will investigate relentlessly and discover with his friends that he was in search of a legendary treasure and that he even had a solid lead …
Bonnie & Clyde are looking for treasure
John B, Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and JJ (Rudy Pankow) are a group of friends living on Outer Banks Island. Social services warn John B that they will soon be placing him in a foster home because his father has been missing for nine months. But the approach of a hurricane gave him a few days of respite.
Following this, John B and his friends go fishing and discover a stranded ship. As they dive in to find out what they are hiding, the group understand that the boat contains secrets about the treasure hunt led by their missing father.
The gang then sets out in search of this famous treasure but their investigation will lead them to put people in high places and the authorities to their backs. John B and his friends understand that many people are in search of this treasure, including Ward Cameron (Charles Esten), the father of Sarah (Madelyn Cline), queen of the Kooks with whom John B has fallen in love.
Ward is embroiled in dark criminal cases and Sarah ends up turning on him and follows John B. Alone against them all, the Pogues steal the Phantom, JJ’s father’s boat, only to escape when they are chased by the criminals. and by the authorities. For his part, Ward tries to fly to the Bahamas to recover the gold.
But learning that John and Sarah are fleeing at sea in the middle of a storm, he tries to bring them to their senses. John then uses the boat’s radio to reveal to everyone on the island the actions of Ward, who is arrested by the police. However, the boat capsized and John B and Sarah were presumed dead.
Their friends mourn them but we finally see John B and Sarah surviving the storm and being rescued by a freighter. The couple can therefore continue their search for gold and find hope despite the events.
