Warner Bros has just uploaded the “Operation Mincemeat” trailer. The film tells the story of an unlikely idea to misinform the Nazis during WWII.
Surgery Mincemeat, when MI5 uses ingenuity to deceive the Nazis
Operation Mincemeat will soon immerse us in one of the many little-known missions of WWII. The story of the film is set in 1943. At that time, the conflict rages and the Allies want to attempt an assault on the part of Europe held by the Nazis. Two British intelligence officers, MI5, then have an idea to provide their enemies with false information about their intentions …
It was John Madden who directed Operation Mincemeat based on a screenplay by Michelle Ashford inspired by the eponymous novel by Ben Macintyre. Madden was able to count on a beautiful cast to direct his film. Colin Firth and Matthew Macfadyen play Ewen Montagu and Charles Cholmondeley, the two men who had the idea of the disinformation operation. They are accompanied by Jason Isaacs, Kelly Macdonald, Penelope Wilton, Mark Gatiss and Johnny Flynn, who plays the novelist Ian Fleming, famous for having created the character of James Bond.
The first rhythmic images
Warner Bros., which distributes the film, has just unveiled the trailer forOperation Mincemeat. The first images show us the main protagonists of the mission to deceive the Nazis. And they tease the difficulty of carrying out such an operation, all the details of which must be plausible to fool the enemy. We should be entitled to a film in the classic form to present a plot that is not.
Note that another book, published this time in 1953, already told the story ofOperation Mincemeat. It was Raphaël Aloysius Lafferty who wrote it, and titled The man who never existed. The novel had also been the subject of a film adaptation of the same name, released in 1956. John Madden’s feature film will therefore bring this little-known story up to date.
The output ofOperation Mincemeat is planned for January 5, 2022 in theaters.
