After the recent “An Angry Man”, Jason Statham will find Guy Ritchie for his next film: “Operation Fortune”. This is the 5th time that the two men will work together.
Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham: a long friendship
Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie cut their teeth together. The first in front of the camera, the second in the staging. It was in 1998 for Scams, crimes and botany. At the time, the film was destroyed by the critics but is quickly noticed by the public, seduced by the style and the unique rhythm of Guy Ritchie. On the box office side, this first test is almost profitable $ 4 million in the UK. Two years later, the two men meet again to Snatch. True cult film, it is the consecration, both for Guy Ritchie, but also for Jason Statham. Snatch is today an absolute reference in cinematographic pop culture. At the time, the feature film had grossed more than 83 million dollars in revenue worldwide.
Then, the two artists take different routes. Jason Statham very quickly becomes a reference in the world of action cinema, and is hired in many Hollywood productions. His career is definitely taking off. Guy Ritchie, for his part, faces the fury of the professional press which does not carry him in his heart. He collapses with Adrift. In 2005, he decided to recall Jason Statham for Revolver.
Subsequently, Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham go their own way until this year, where they find themselves after fifteen years of waiting, in An angry man. This remake of the French film The Conveyor is placed as a relatively minor film in the career of its author, but still brings in more than $ 103 million in box office revenue.
Operation Fortune : a fifth collaboration
Visibly, An angry man relaunched the partnership between Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham. The two Britons will actually meet for a fifth time in Operation Fortune. This new film by Guy Ritchie, expected on January 21, 2022 in the United States, will tell the fate of Orson Fortune (Jason Statham), an MI6 agent recruited by an international alliance to prevent the commercialization of new particularly threatening weapons.
Formerly titled Five eyes, this Operation Fortune was written by Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies. Casting side, the film will bring together Cary Elwes and Aubrey Plaza. Also note the presence of Josh Hartnett, who was already in the casting of An angry man, and Hugh Grant, back with the English director after the excellent The Gentlemen.
