It’s not really a big surprise: After only appearing sporadically in seasons 1 and 2 because actress Ruby Stokes had other commitments, the character becomes Francesca Bridgerton now newly occupied.
The character Francesca Bridgerton has been a mystery in Bridgerton”: In season 1 she was hardly to be seen, in season 2 then only in the first episodes before she suddenly disappeared without a trace. A little later showrunner Chris Van Dusen brought light into darkness:
Francesca actress Ruby Stokes is also part of the cast of the upcoming Netflix series “Lockwood & Co.” And because she was engaged there first, the “Bridgerton’ team had no choice but to let her go in the middle of filming Season 2 so she could be in front of the camera for the other series.
It is obvious that due to this unfortunate constellation, the decision was made to cast the character Francesca again.
