THE FILM OF THE DAY
Created in 1996 by the Game Freak studio and originally intended for the famous Game Boy video game, Satoshi Tajiri’s Pokémon have gradually invaded our daily lives through card games, animated series, manga and a multitude of derivative products. This phenomenally successful franchise also includes 22 animated films. In 2019, Pokémon Detective Pikachu is the fourth to be released in France, but above all it is the first in live action.
To do this, the team benefited from the support of the Pokémon Company and drew inspiration from certain animals to make the famous “pocket monsters” in 3D. More importantly, Ryan Reynolds’ performance – and not just his voice – helped embody Pikachu onscreen. Indeed, the actor has totally appropriated the character by adopting his humor, his facial expressions, his expressions and his gestures.
