Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the action stars whose work not only consists of casually produced hit-and-run films, but also real masterpieces such as “Terminator 2 – Judgment Day” or “Predator”. It goes without saying that not every Arnie strip is a stroke of genius because of this. “Eraser”, for example, is not one of the big milestones, but the film can definitely convince as a solid genre cinema with a lot of explosive action. He can be seen today, on September 5 at 8:15 p.m. on Kabel 1.
But now for the big one: Since “Eraser” has an FSK 16 approval, the film may only be shown uncut on the free TV from 10 p.m. Today’s TV broadcast is shortened accordingly (and more than 2 minutes). If you want to see the actioner without censorship, you can turn on the nightly repeat (September 8th at 12:55 a.m.) or you can switch to the online retailer Amazon, where “Eraser” is currently on sale for a small thaler on Blu-ray :

Even if “Eraser” is not a big hit, action fans must have seen the film – if only because of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who not only flexes his muscles here, but also proves his charisma. There were 3 out of 5 possible stars in the official criticism of film. Our author Ulrich Behrens writes in it:
“‘Eraser’ does not leave the viewer a break, is action on the sound. Schwarzenegger is injured by a nail by means of a special weapon; He pierces his hand. Later he is hit in the left shoulder. Schwarzenegger doesn’t just stand still, he fights, runs, keeps shooting, ducks, thinks, hits like nothing happened to him.”
Arnie supporters-and all those who still want to become-get their money’s worth here. Most notably, the Steirische Eiche even manages to dodge state-of-the-art weapons that attackers can even use to see through walls and kill their target with aluminum projectiles just below the speed of light. Of course that’s all nonsense, but “Eraser” is fun and crafted by Chuck Russell.
Of course, there are also scenes that Ulrich Behrens described as “incredibly beautiful” in his review. For example, Schwarzenegger rappels down with a parachute to board a Boeing carrying him and Dr. Cullen pursues to shoot. Even more grandiose is the alligator scene, in which Kruger not only has to contend with nasty pursuers in the middle of the zoo, but also with voracious reptiles. The right one one liner Of course not long in coming.
By the way: In March, a sequel to “Eraser” was released in the form of “Eraser: Reborn” – a sequel that not only no one expected, but after no one asked. The fact that Arnold Schwarzenegger is no longer part of the party certainly didn’t do the film any good, but apart from a lousy animated appearance of a CGI rhinoceros, the actioner can hardly cause any enthusiasm, as you can see from the official DashFUN review. “Eraser: Reborn is already available on Blu-ray and DVD:

US Marshall John Kruger (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is a member of one of the most secret associations in the United States. He works in the witness protection program to protect key witnesses from access by suspects or to provide them with a new identity. This usually leads to shootouts and extremely dangerous situations. This is also the case with Lee Cullen (Vanessa L. Williams), who discovered that the armaments company Cyrez, in cooperation with a state secretary (Andy Romano) and parts of the CIA, is illegally selling super weapons that officially shouldn’t even exist yet.
No sooner has Kruger Dr. Cullen taken under his wing, both are exposed to permanent attacks and are on the run. dr Cullen not only stolen a disk with data that is important as evidence, but also made a copy. Krugers boss (James Caan), who wants to earn a lot of earnings on the arms trade, knows this and rushes his CIA gangsters on Cullen and Kruger. The duo can no longer trust anyone …
